please help on sound levels (or my shit set up)

basically i wanna record to mp3 but im on a real tight budget. i got a cable coming out of headphone port in amp and into mic port on computer.

its so distorted and i turned down the gain and the bass and the volume and it still is really distorted.

any ideas on a better way to connect it or anything.

under 40 quid. its an usb audio interface, goes into any usb drive on laptop of pc, acts as a soundcard, comes with free software to record and edit your sets. ive got one myself! had to download a codec to export mp3s, but was prompted through the windows guide easily.

You should also check that your mic volume isnt set too high in your pc volume settings as that can cause major distortion ;)

take it out of the mic input and plug it into the another hole

most shit soundcards have line inputs including mine

plug your mixer to your soundcards line-out (it's usually the blue one) and then if you got stereos or amplifier where you got your speakers hooked plug it in line-in (green one)
