View Full Version : laptop monitor is fucked

if i close and open the lid, i'll see the display for a matter of seconds before the screen appears to go blank. I can just about make out an image if i hold a bright light to the display. Suggestions?

Inverter board is fucked most probably. Its what powers the backlight.

What make and model of laptop?

If you take the front panel off your screen you'll be left with the screen and the fixtures holding it to the lid, you should see a little circuit board probably below the screen. Thats the inverter board, check for any signs of damage (burns are a dead giveaway), have a look online for a replacement inverter board, theyre dirt cheap, so even if it isnt that (which im sure it is right now) you got one just in case.

Highly unlikely the backlight or screen itself is dead, my money is on the inverter board.

had a look and can seem to find one for every model acer except mine.

...and what is your laptop? quality? lol if my screen breaks i take it to the apple store in town and it gets fixed by a genius. a real life friggin genius. i dont have to wank about on ebay for ages looking for third party replacements for anything... and try saying (for example) that Logic Pro is sub standard software...

Thats the inverter circuit board, check any signs of burn injury is a dead gifts, there is a a replacement inverter board, it is more dirt cheap, so even if not true, which is now to ensure you get the IM see online one of the case.
