We all know how fast he gets through his tunes and I've already quickly mentioned this before, but who'd be interested in a quick mixing compo? Basically who can get the most tunes into a 20min(or so) mix. Obviously mixing quality would also have to be taken into consideration.
Just an idea...thought it could be quite entertaining.

Aii, yeh i would be up an Andy C comp, sticking to 2 dex as most only have 2..
Err dunno yet, but I guess we need to make it fair for everyone. I mean if we allowed 3 decks, and you had 2 tunes playing then simply scratched a bit of a 3rd tune over the top would that count as 3 tunes? Could get complicated but we'll agree on some rules once there's been a bit of interest.
Also I must point out that this compo would be decks only. No PC assistance in the form of MP3 mixers or SoundForge post-editing.

Nah, the first thing was to get some ideas together. Finalise some sort of rules or summat and then advertise it all over the place. If we only had 4 then it wouldnt be worth it in my opinion.
The bigger it is the harder it is to judge in my opinion!!
Plus, who will judge them? :D

I'd be up for having a go at this, but I think choice of tunes should be down to specific people. If you say they have to play specific tunes, you limit them and risk excluding people who dont own the tunes, or play a different type of D&B.
Like, if you say they have to play 'up all night', someone who plays jump up, or oldskool jungle or jazzy stuff won't really be able to enter. Or what if they just don't like that tune... And as a broader point, people's tune selection practically defines them as a DJ, so if you say they have to play tune X or tune Y, you take that away from them.
Also, I reckon careful tune selection is going to play an important part in fitting lots of tunes into 20 mins. Saying people have to play certain tunes takes some of that element of skill out of things.
So I reckon tune selection shouldn't be limited.
Just my 2p though.

The beauty of music is expression. What would expression be with control? 'Track Laws' would be a form of control. (Track laws being songs that we have to play in our set.)
I have to agree with walrus.
Track selection should be left up to the DJ! After all, that is one if not the biggest part in what makes a DJ, right? Why take that away?
I vote no track rules! However I see nothing wrong with track suggestions...
Im interested to see what other styles everyone is doing out there, I hope this thing goes!:)

Right, if were gunna do this.. I suggest a time limit of around 25minutes, with no required playlist. Judged by Mr mutual, but someone who's in the know...
I say stick with 20 mins, purely because I've just this minute finished recording a 20 minute mix with the intention of entering it.
But whatever... :)
