Dunno bout the cheapest, but the least I would suggest to anyone who wants get somewhere in the dj scene is 1210's.

dRiFT

Coz they aint very cheap, and secondly coz if their hardware delivery is as slow as their vinyl delivery you'll have gone off the whole idea by the time it all arrives!

Yeah pretty funny in retrospect although at the time I was well annoyed with myself. Think that's probably the worst mix I've ever done!...and what a place to do it, heh.

I used to work at HTFR!
Their vinyl is was too expensive man. The only time I bought there was when I was working there and got it cheap, but the manager was a stingey cunt and we had to pay full price on promos and shit, so it was better off buying promos elsewhere.
The showroom is dope tho, and had pretty much everything in there. Wasn't the cheapest of the lot, but the selection was good. Hardware orders were on the whole a hell of a lot quicker if you're wondering (unless you order vinyl with hardware too, then you'll be in for a wait).
As far as decks go it really is a bit shitty to say don't buy anything other than technics cos how many peepz start on those? not many at all unless their parents are rich. There's no shame in earning your decks and starting on something not as good as 1210s. Most of us have done it, in fact most of the best DJs did. A cheap set of decks will teach you to be delicate, then when you get on better ones you will be bale to be more precise and controlled, whereas if you start on 1210s and have to use anything else it'll be very dificult cos the plates are so sensitive.
Adjusting between decks takes a little while, but a good Dj will be able to do it quickly, so just get the best you can afford, and take it from there. Also if you find you just can't match it up you'll have not spent 900 quid on a mad setup and have to sell it for half that.
